Four of Crusaders youngest talents re-sign for the 2024 season 

Jack Atkins, Fionn McCabe, Ethan Neilson and Jakub Wasieczko have all re-signed with the Crusaders for the upcoming campaign

16-year-old Jack Atkins who made his Crusaders debut at the tail end of the 2022 season made five appearances for the Crusaders in 2023, managing to score three times.


He had a breakout performance in the Wales Rugby League Invitational League season opener against Cardiff Blue Dragons, scoring 22 of his sides 58 points.


Two-time Young Player of the Year Fionn McCabe first joined the Crusaders midway through the 2022 season, making his debut at just 12 years old. Fionn had a phenomenal campaign for the Crusaders in 2023, managing two tries in 16 appearances.


He also became known for his defensive efforts for the club, completing an unprecedented 98.3% tackle completion rate across all competitions: the best rate of any other player at the club. On his 16th birthday, Fionn will have a tough decision to make as he holds the ability to represent Ireland, USA and Wales internationally in the sport.


Ethan Neilson became the Crusaders’ youngest ever debutant, making his debut midway through the season against Warrington Wolves ‘A’ at the age of just 11 years old.


Ethan shone on the Wing for the Crusaders, making five appearances, including a try on his debut against the Wolves’ development and a try in the closing minutes of the Crusaders ‘A’ league winning encounter against York RLFC. Ethan was also honoured by the RFL at the Grand Final by being selected to collect and lift the Championship North trophy.


15-year-old Jakub ‘Kuba’ Wasieczko can represent FOUR different countries; being able to play for both Poland and Ukraine through his heritage, England through his birth and Wales through his residency. Kuba had a successful 2023 season, being awarded Players’ Player of the Year at the clubs End of Season Awards following an excellent season in which he came away with 14 tries in 17 games, including a try in each of his two games for the first team.


This impresssive campaign saw Jakub called into Wales' train-on squad ahead of the international sides preperation for their upcoming tour of the USA.


The trio of Atkins, Neilson and Wasieczko are all sponsored by Howdens for the 2024 campaign.
