2024 Challenge Trophy structure finalised

North Wales Crusaders Wheelchair Rugby League would like to update all of their fans and wider members of the Wheelchair Rugby League community on it’s participation in the Challenge Trophy competition in 2024.

Following the Expression of Interest period the RFL Wheelchair Management Group has confirmed the structure for the 2024 Challenge Trophy – this will be the first time the Crusaders have entered the competition since reaching the final in 2018.

The Challenge Trophy will be a 15-club competition, consisting of 3 groups of 5-teams from across the UK, including new sides: Edinburgh Giants and Salford Red Devils.

The competition will be a one-day event with each club playing 4 pool games with the top-ranking team and the best placed second placed team heading into the semi-finals, with the winners then going on to play in the day and cup final as well as being entered into the Challenge Cup alongside the Super League teams and reigning champions Catalan Dragons.

 Each tournament fixture will be 20 minutes long, complete with no-half-time and will take place on Sunday 14^th April at the National Basketball & Performance Centre in Manchester.

The Crusaders will be the only Welsh side in the competition following the decision on not to participate by both Cardiff and Torfaen.

The Crusaders will be in Pool 3 for the competition alongside fellow Championship West sides: Warrington Wolves and Widnes Vikings along with Championship East sides: Hull KR and Sheffield Eagles. This will mark the first meeting between the famous Red and White of Hull KR and the Crusaders.
